Plaster brings depth to a wall without adding pattern. Its subtle movement responds beautifully to Scottsdale light, making it useful in interiors that need warmth and character without visual noise.

Choose plaster for the quality of light

Lime, Venetian and other hand-applied finishes vary in sheen and movement. A polished surface reflects more dramatically; a matte finish absorbs light and feels quieter. The room and exposure should determine the choice.

Review large samples

A small chip cannot communicate the variation of a hand-applied wall. We review panels at meaningful scale and, when possible, on site. Application technique is part of the final appearance.

Coordinate undertones

Plaster should be considered with flooring, stone, wood and daylight. Warm whites, sand, ochre and gray can shift considerably beside other materials.

Use it to support architecture

Plaster can unify a curved stair, emphasize the mass of a fireplace or give a broad wall greater depth. It is strongest where the material helps explain form, not when used as a decorative patch.

Plan the edges

Transitions to base, millwork, stone and metal require clear details. Crisp reveals create a modern expression; softer returns may suit more organic architecture.

Understand maintenance and repair

Different systems have different durability, breathability and touch-up requirements. The applicator should prepare a sample, confirm substrate conditions and document the mix for future work.

Plaster succeeds through restraint. It gives the room atmosphere while remaining part of the architecture. Contact JSF Design about finishes for a custom home or renovation.

Design Inspiration

The collaboration between Jeffrey Florentine of JSF Design and Antolini began with a shared conviction: natural stone should shape architecture, not simply finish it. Featured by Modern Luxury Scottsdale, Elementa is a collection developed with Antolini to explore how texture, proportion, light and repetition can give stone a more architectural role in the home.
